Peony

Peony, scientifically known as Paeonia, is a genus of flowering plants in the Paeoniaceae family. These stunning herbaceous perennials are native to Asia, Europe, and North America. Peonies are well-known and loved for their large, showy, and fragrant blooms, making them popular choices in gardens and floral arrangements. The flowers come in a wide range of colors, including shades of white, pink, red, coral, and even yellow. Peony plants have lush, dark green foliage that adds to their attractiveness even when not in bloom.

Common Types: Peonies are divided into several types based on their flower form and growth habits. Some common ones include:

  1. Herbaceous Peonies: These are the most common type, with soft, herbaceous stems that die back to the ground in winter.
  2. Tree Peonies: Tree peonies have woody stems and can grow into small shrubs or small trees, producing large, woody, and long-lived stems.
  3. Intersectional Peonies (Itoh Peonies): These are hybrids between herbaceous and tree peonies, combining the best features of both.
